Caring for a child with additional support needs and coping with behaviour that challenges

Led by VOCAL, and a Clinical Psychologist from CAHMS, this session explores behaviour that challenges and shares tips and advice for coping with this.

Who is this online session for?
This course is designed for parents/carers of someone under 16 with additional support needs. This event is open to carers from Edinburgh and Midlothian.
Outcomes of this online session
Week 1 – How Do We Feel About the Behaviour
Unpredictable or challenging behaviour can generate a wide range of emotions for parents/carers. This session delivered by VOCAL provides a space to explore feelings and to develop strategies to deal with them.
Week 2 – Understanding the Behaviour
This session delivered by the CAHMS team explores why certain behaviours arise and how best we can understand them. There is practical advice about how to deal with some situations and about where to turn for support.
Week 1 will be delivered by Rebecca Caulfield, Senior Carer Training Officer at VOCAL.
Week 2 will be presented by Dr Louise McCool, Clinical Psychologist, CAMHS Intellectual Disability.
