Do you care for someone with dementia? Led by an experienced dementia nurse this session will help you understand and manage behaviour you might find distressing or hard to deal with.
Duration: 1 week
Who is this session for?
Carers who care for someone with dementia and who want to understand more about what triggers the behaviours we find challenging and how to less them or cope with them. This session is aimed at someone who has mid to late stage dementia.
This event is open to carers residing in or caring for a person in Edinburgh only.
Outcomes of this session
The following topics will be covered in the session:
- To help you understand why those with dementia may exhibit behaviours that challenge.
- To discuss ways of responding to these.
- To discuss and understand our response to these behaviours.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.
Sarah Linklater, Community Dementia Nurse, South Older Peoples CMHT and Clare Wallace, Community Mental Health Nurse,, North Edinburgh Community Mental Health Team, (Older People).
VOCAL is pleased to offer face to face training courses at the Edinburgh Carers Hub, 60 Leith Walk, EH6 5HB. A number of measures have been introduced to protect the safety and wellbeing of carers coming into the hub.
