Specifically designed to meet the needs of carers of people with M.S. The course covers a range of relevant topics including treatment, moving and handling and complimentary therapies.

Who is this course for?
Carers supporting someone who has MS.
Week 1 – Caring for someone with M.S.—Symptom Management
This session provides practical advice on symptom management and how to make day to day tasks easier for both the person with M.S. and their carer.
Week 2 – Caring for someone with M.S.
This session provides advice about equipment to help people with M.S. and their carers with day to day tasks. The session will also include information about how to access practical support and breaks from the local authority.
Week 3 – Psychological Changes
This session explores some of the psychological changes that people with M.S. can experience as well as practical advice for carers on how to support someone with these changes while coping with their own lifestyle change.
Week 4 – Welfare Benefits and decision making
Information about Welfare Benefits entitlements for people with M.S. and their carers, as well as information on how to help with decisions through Power of Attorney and Guardianship.
Week 5 – Changing Relationships
Caring and illness can impact on our relationships including those with the person we support and with other family and friends. This session explores how relationships work and the process of change.
Week 6 – Looking after yourself
A session exploring the impact of caring on the carers health and wellbeing. This session will explore techniques for keeping well and will have a particular focus on stress management.
