Thinking about and paying for Long Term Care (Lifecare)
10:30 - 12:30
This short course is designed to support and inform family members and friends considering helping someone to move to a care or nursing home.
Duration: 1 week
Who is this course for?
This course is tailored specifically to carers supporting someone who may move to long term care.
It can be very hard to know when it is the right time for someone to move to a care home. This session explores different issues that might influence you when someone moves to a care home, the roles of different professionals involved and the role of family members. This session will include a discussion on risk and also on capacity.
There is a wide range of care homes offering different services locally. This session helps carers to think about how they will gather information about care homes and how they can support the person moving, and to make the right choice about which one would be the most appropriate. This session includes practical information and provides carers with a personalised check list for them to use.
This session provides information about how a place in a care home is funded and includes information about free personal and nursing care payments, what happens to property, pensions and other assets.
