Carer Quote: “Excellent training event. Some carers had intense caring roles but it was suitable for all. It was great learning things for future. Covering topics such as my wellbeing, wheelchair use (I didn’t know I could stabilise the wheelchair using the front wheels), getting in and out of the car, walking and supporting someone if they are going to fall. I was also shown how a person should walk properly with their. Great trainer with a good understanding about different caring roles. The trainer made everything easy to understand and you could practice with her if you wanted to. She made me feel ease throughout the training.”

About the event: The Bladder and Bowel Nursing Team are specialists in bladder and bowel assessment, treatment and management. They provide advice and support to those caring for people with bladder and bowel problems.

Incontinence is defined as the involuntary loss of urine and/or faeces that can have a devastating effect upon the physical, social and psychological wellbeing of the person and can significantly impact their quality of life. Incontinence is not a disease, but a symptom of an underlying condition which can be treated in many cases.
It’s estimated that 14 million people in the UK have bladder control problems. Less than half of those will seek help and advice. Approximately 80% of urinary incontinence can be cured or significantly improved after a complete assessment. The Bladder and Bowel Nursing Team are specialists in bladder and bowel assessment, treatment and management. This session is a space to ask questions, discuss products, and gain practical tips around supporting someone with continence issues. Please note, the Bladder and Bowel Nursing team only assesses and treats adults. Children need to be assessed and treated by school nurses or health visitors.

When: Wednesday 25 June, 10:30am to 1pm.

About the event:

A beginner-friendly workshop to crochet your own Scottie dog! These cute little pups are made with one simple crochet stitch, which we will repeat until we’ve created the right shape. It’s a repetitive and rhythmic way of crocheting which, once you’ve got the hang of, can quickly help you to relax and take a breather.
This session is designed to be accessible for beginners to crochet, so don’t worry if you’ve never picked up a hook before! We walk through each and every stitch and step. Crocheting is an incredibly mindful and relaxing craft and, when you become proficient with the stitches, you will find that you can bring your crocheting out anytime you have a spare five minutes to relax.
