This session will talk you through the reasons why it is important to make a will and demonstrate how to do it using the Bequeathed Will for Good Service.

About the event:  

A session on strategies for budgeting, managing and saving money in these tough times.
There were 2.1 billion debit card transactions in August 2022. As a society, we have experienced a great shift in the way we interact with and manage our money in recent years. This can make the process of budgeting and money management increasingly complex in our busy lives. In this workshop we look at different tools that can be used to track your spending. We will also consider how to manage money more effectively, how to categorise your spending, and where to go if something goes wrong.

Juggling work and care is challenging. Working carers are invited to join VOCAL for a short workshop to discuss issues that matter most to you, and meet other working carers.

In this workshop, we will talk about the challenges you face when juggling work and caring responsibilities and what the impact is on you. We will also look at what solutions there are to support you better with your work and caring life balance.

Kathleen Taylor from the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland will give a talk on the Commission, mental health laws and your rights as a carer including Power of Attorney and Guardianship.
Come along to find out how The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland helps support the rights of people with mental illness, learning difficulties and other conditions. The Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland is an organisation that helps support the rights of people with mental illness, learning difficulties, autism, dementia, personality disorder and related conditions.

Delivered by:

Kathleen Taylor, Engagement and Participation Officer at the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland. She has lived experience as a carer and, in her work, has particular responsibility in engaging with families and carers. She hopes to highlight the work of the Commission and hear any concerns you may have about the care of your friend or relative.

She is a parent carer to five children with mental health problems and helps support her sister who has learning difficulties and autism.

A four-week introduction to Mindful Meditation for those new to mindfulness or those who would like to return to practice. Mindfulness is a gentle and safe way of slowing down our busy lives and can help us in times of stress.
