About the event: This workshop offers time to nurture yourself during the summer season through the healing power of writing and embodiment through yoga practice. Suitable for beginners.

This will be a relaxing and gentle Hatha-style yoga class, then a journalling session followed by a soothing guided relaxation. This event is open to carers residing in or caring for a person in Edinburgh and Midlothian.

When: Wed 16 July, 10:30am-12:30pm

About the event: In this workshop you will create your own paper jewellery, such as brooches, rings, necklaces, bracelets or earrings. Transform book or magazine pages and other paper into unique wearable art. All materials will be provided.

Using paper to make jewellery, such as rings, brooches, bracelets, necklaces or other items allows for a huge variety of designs and creativity. The results can be surprisingly robust despite the delicate nature of the material. Paper can be shaped by rolling, layering, folding (Origami) and can be enhanced by adding card, beads and wire. You will also learn to make paper beads which are one of the common elements of many paper jewellery pieces.

Beginners and experts alike can have fun creating unique, colourful and one-off pieces that can – with the correct treatment – last for years.

Delivered by: Isabell Buenz has explored paper for her artwork since 2000. The artist uses this versatile material for the creation of her artists’ and altered books, paper sculptures, installations and paper fashion items. Isabell exhibits her work in theatrical ways and fashion shows across the UK and abroad. She is a member of Upland, DG Unlimited, The Dunbar Arts Trust, Intertwine (Galloway Textile Collective), Edinburgh Creatives and the Scottish Fashion Creative Network. She divides her time between her studio at St. Margaret’s House in Edinburgh and her workshop near Gatehouse of Fleet.
