Corrie is back to talk about supporting your children through puberty and growing up. This is a follow up to our “Gentle introduction to supporting your children through puberty and growing up”. The group will discuss topics such as consent, navigating internet safety, body image and mental health and many more. *You do not need to have attended the first session to attend this one*

This session will focus on Sex, gender and sexuality: supporting LGBTQIA autistic young people and adults

  • The diversity of the LGBTQIA community
  • The difference between sex, gender, gender expression and attraction.

About the event:  

Corrie is back to talk about a theme that will be decided by you as parents and carers as a follow up to the initial “Introduction to supporting young people with ASN through puberty and growing up”. Topics may include consent, navigating internet safety, body image and mental health and many more.

Do you care for or support an adult who is struggling with their mental health or has a mental health condition or substance use*? *Uses substances in a problematic way or has an addiction. Do you worry about your ability to cope with mental health or substance use problems now or in future?

Join us and other professionals to find out more about mental health and substance use services that could support you and the person you care for or support. This information day is suitable either for those who care for or support someone or you yourself have experienced poor mental health or problems with substance use.

Information provided is about general support and adult services, and you do not have to have a formal diagnosis to benefit from the information given or have engaged with health or support services before.

The day is indented to be informative and supportive; you do not have to share information about any conditions or personal problems of your own or the person you care for/support.

A introduction to sexual health. This relaxed, informal session focuses on the importance of supporting your child’s experience of puberty, as well as helping to protect them against vulnerabilities.

This group is for those who care for a child with additional support needs. Enjoy some for time you and meet with other local parent carers for a cuppa and chat. A great group to share knowledge, experiences and ideas. This cuppa will alternate between in-person and on Zoom.

A group led by local parent carers of adult aged children with additional support needs. Skills Development Scotland / My World of Work will attend to provide information on the services they offer that may support you or the person you care for.

We will be join a qualified Career Adviser for part of the session who will give an overview of how they can help and support individuals of all ages to see what opportunities are out there so that they can make informed decisions about their future careers. They will talk about the career services that are available to pupils in school as well as young people who have just left school and adults of all ages. They will take questions from the group on all things career related and if we have time we may even have a career activity quiz!

This group is an informal group, the group will meet monthly in the evening. There is no need to attend every month. Discuss issues that matter most to you, and have an opportunity to meet others on a similar journey!
